    WonderCon 2017 Jubilee cosplay

I spent Sunday April 2, 2017, at WonderCon! I met authors Margaret Stohl and C.B. Lee, attended a badass feminist panel by the Black Widow author, herself, and cosplayed X-Men's Jubilee!

Book review | “You Before Anyone Else” by Julie Cross and Mark Perini

"You Before Anyone Else" is a quick read with a delightfully adorable romance, and the "moral of the story" is one that everyone should take to heart. Though it is not as dramatic or heavy as "Halfway Perfect" and has…

Confession: lack of comments makes me doubt why I blog

I blog because I enjoy sparking conversation and sharing helpful information. Without comments I'm left wondering: Is anyone even reading this? Does anyone even care? Why am I even writing this?

    Five ways to combat wanderlust

I've already made a list of things I want to do this summer, but wanderlust is a difficult thing to quench, as many of you already know. Hence, I've decided to write a post to help my fellow dreamers ease…

Book review | “Ice Like Fire” by Sara Raasch

"Ice Like Fire" has all of the symptoms of second-book syndrome, but the series is still promising. Meira and Mather's inner conflicts are the most interesting part of the story, and there are hints of something amazing to come. I…

  • I had a really fun weekend at #metrocon with my friends, but now it's time to get back to reality. My first real cosplay experience was really positive, and I look forward to making many more costumes in the future.

If you want to read more about my weekend, I posted a Metrocon recap on my blog (link in profile). That's where you'll find my cosplay photos for Sailor Mars and Princess Mononoke.

If you could cosplay any character, who would you choose?

  • It's been a while since I've uploaded a photo on Instagram. Here's one of my favorite recent reads, The Falconer by Elizabeth May. This book was so good I downloaded the sequel to my Kobo immediately after finishing. Eeek! Cliffhangers in both books! I can't wait to get my hands on the series finale!

On a related note, it will never cease to amaze me how girls in steampunk novels can run and fight in heeled shoes and petticoats.

I'm drafting the review for both books as I post this. Expect a review link within a few days.

  • An outfit for a night out with the girls, a book for a night in.
This week's #bookishscene is "Into the Night," and I couldn't resist the allure of The Night Circus.

Midnight is definitely when I feel the most alive. The house is quiet, the mood is right, and it feels like I can get anything done.

Are you a night owl? Or perhaps a rêveur?

  • This week's #bookishscene theme is Wanderlust. I really struggled with picking a book for this theme because Wanderlust has so many different meanings in my life. It represents wanting to spread my figurative wings and be independent. It represents daydreams of the endless possibilities of future. It means travel, too, of course.

In the end, I selected 13 Little Blue Envelopes by Maureen Johnson because 1) I love the new, minimalistic cover, 2) I'm sooo due for a reread, and 3) It epitomizes everything that Wanderlust means to me. Also in this photo are a couple of post cards I bought in Paris, when I visited my cousins who live in France in 2011. I definitely want to see Paris again some day, as well as many other European cities.

Which cities are on your bucket list?

  • Today I deviated from my color scheme and colored my bullet journal Slytherin green in honor of Alan Rickman, our Professor Snape.

The quote at the top reads: "It's a human need to be told stories. The more we're governed by idiots and have no control over our destinies, the more we need to tell stories to each other about who we are, why we are, where we came from, and what might be possible." -Alan Rickman

He'll be in our hearts. Always.
But now it's time to raise our wands...

  • This week's #bookishscene is Depths of Winter, so it's only appropriate for me to feature Ice Like Fire by Sara Raasch.

I'm definitely a Winterian at heart, and I support Meira and Mather 100%. I think I'm due for a reread of Ice Like Fire, especially because I received an eARC and haven't written a review.

It's an unfortunately warm winter where I live, which makes me super sad. I haven't had a chance to break out my boots and scarves.

Are you a Winterian too?

  • Jan. 2/Jan. 3: books to read in 2016/book & bed

I decided to combine two themes because most of my Instagtam photos are taken on my bed these days.

I'm very much a mood reader, so I don't really know what I'm going to read until I've already started. I do know that I'll be reading Never Let Me Go, The Things They Carried and The Great Gatsby in English Lit. this year.

I plan on starting See How They Run later today.

What books are you looking forward to this year?
